Detailed Safari Program

Day 1:NAIROBI

On arrival at JKIA you are met by a CATS Africa representative and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day resting and adjusting to the different time zone. Lunch and dinner on own account. Overnight at NAIROBI SERENA HOTEL (bed & breakfast)

Day 2: NAIROBI / AMBOSELI

After breakfast and check-out, drive south east of Nairobi to Amboseli National Park, home to big herds of elephant and with the snowy peaks on Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background. Check-in followed by lunch and spend the early afternoon at leisure. Depart in the evening for a game viewing drive until sunset. Return for dinner and overnight at AMBOSELI SERENA LODGE (full board)

Day 3: AMBOSELI / MOUNT KENYA

After breakfast and check-out, depart with a game drive en route to the Mount Kenya region, Mount Kenya (5,199 m) is Kenya's highest mountain, a national icon, a climbers' Mecca, the nation's namesake, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site and a wildlife stronghold. One of the world's highest National Parks, it is also an extinct volcano some three and a half million years old and the sacred home of Ngai, God of the Kikuyu people. Lunch at Serena Mountain Lodge. Rest of afternoon at leisure. Evening enjoy game viewing from the lodge terrace as they arrive to lick salt and quench thirst. Dinner and overnight at SERENA MOUNTAIN LODGE (full board).

Day 4: MOUNT KENYA / OL PEJETA SANCTUARY

After breakfast, drive to Ol Pejeta Game Sanctuary the home of the chimpanzees.The Ol Pejeta Conservancy boasts an outstanding variety of animals, including the big five(the endangered black & white Rhino, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and lion), Grevy's zebra, Jackson's hartebeest and cheetah. Arrive in time for lunch at the camp and depart later for a game viewing drive until sunset. Dinner and overnight at SWEETWATERS SERENA CAMP (full board).

Day 5: OL PEJETA

Spend the day on morning and afternoon game viewing drives, including a visit to the Jane Goodall Institute which is a fascinating interactive information centre where visitors can learn more about the Chimps by means of a series of hands on activities. All meals and overnight at SWEETWATERS SERENA CAMP (full board).

Day 6: OL PEJETA / MASAI MARA

After breakfast and check-out, transferred to the Nanyuki airstrip for your scheduled local flight to Masai Mara. On arrival at the Serena airstrip, met by your host and transferred in shared lodge vehicle. Lunch at the lodge Afternoon game viewing drive in shared lodge vehicle Dinner and overnight at MARA SERENA SAFARI LODGE (game package).

Day 7 : MASAI MARA

Spend the day on morning and afternoon game viewing drives in shared lodge vehicle. This is home not only to the big five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo) but also hosts the world renowned wildebeest migration from the Serengeti plains. This happens every year beginning late June to October/early November. Among other animals to be seen include; wildebeest, zebra, impala, topi, giraffe, Thomson's gazelle, leopards, lions, hyenas, cheetah, jackal and bat-eared foxes. Black rhino are a little shy and hard to spot but are often seen at a distance. Optional activities available & payable direct include; hot air balloon safari, visit to local schools and villages, nature/bird walks. All meals and overnight MARA SERENA SAFARI LODGE (game package).

Day 8: MASAI MARA / DEPART

Breakfast at the hotel and check-out, you are transferred in shared lodge vehicle to the Serena airstrip for your local scheduled flight to Nairobi. On arrival at Wilson airport, met by CATS Africa representative and transferred to Carnivore Restaurant for a farewell lunch. Later transferred to JKIA for your outbound flight
